Therapy Companion · Workflow guide
Track a denied therapy claim and its next action
Therapy Companion connects claims and denial review with the practice record. Review the payer’s reason, decide whether the next step is a correction or an appeal, and keep the follow-up with the claim. Insurance Intelligence is software and decision support. Overturn is an optional, separately priced appeals service.
Before you start
Solo therapists and practice teams that handle insurance follow-up and need to understand what the software does versus what their biller or an appeals service does.
- Confirm your payer connections, enrollment, and remittance setup for the intended workflow.
- Have the relevant claim, payer response, and supporting practice record available.
- Know who will review payer instructions and carry out the next action.
The workflow, step by step

Find the claim and the payer response
Review the claim’s status and the available remittance information. A submitted or accepted claim has not necessarily been paid. Status information depends on the responses and connections available to the practice.
Check the resultYou can distinguish the submitted claim, the payer response, and any recorded payment.
Read the reason before choosing a remedy
In Recovery, review the denial reason and the explanation available for that item. The interface can provide a plain-language explanation and a suggested next step. Check these against the actual payer response and the applicable requirements.
Check the resultYou understand what the payer requested. A software suggestion does not establish coverage or override a payer rule.
Choose correction or appeal
A correction and an appeal are different actions. A corrected-claim action is available only for eligible linked claims. Appeal review lets you inspect the supporting explanation and appeal-letter workflow. Confirm the appropriate route, requirements, and deadline with the payer before acting.
Check the resultThe action fits this claim and its requirements; the existence of a button is not a recommendation to submit.
Record submission accurately
The appeal review includes an action to mark an appeal as submitted. That action records that an appeal has been sent; it is not itself evidence that the payer received it. Retain the actual submission confirmation and follow the payer’s process.
Check the resultThe follow-up record matches what was actually sent, when it was sent, and what remains outstanding.
Reconcile the outcome
Record the outcome when it is known and reconcile it with the remittance and payment information. A recovery opportunity, a draft appeal, and a recovered payment are different states.
Check the resultAny recorded recovered amount reflects an actual result, not a projected or requested reimbursement.
Questions and limits
Is Overturn included in the Therapy Companion subscription?
No. Overturn is Therapy Companion’s separate, optional appeals service. Its engagement agreement defines the success fee on money actually recovered. A Therapy Companion subscription is not required to use Overturn.
Does Insurance Intelligence replace my biller?
It helps organize the insurance workflow and provides limited decision support. It is not full-service revenue-cycle management. Agree who handles corrections, submissions, payer calls, and reconciliation for your practice.
Will a denial score predict my recovery?
Treat prioritization and explanations as decision support, not a guarantee or a measured probability of payment. Review the claim, supporting records, payer requirements, and available options.
What to try in a demo
Use fictional records to test the workflow from start to finish. Ask to see the saved result, not just the feature’s introduction.
- Use a fictional denial to inspect the reason and its linked claim.
- Show which actions transmit something and which only update a record.
- Walk through payer enrollment, remittance availability, and responsibilities for your practice.
Pricing and next steps
The individual subscription is $199/month or $1,999/year. Group and enterprise arrangements are scoped separately. Overturn appeal services are optional and priced separately. Review the full scope, payment-processing terms, and any practice-specific requirements before choosing a plan.
